Elon Musk and Donald Trump issue rare response to ‘war’ with China following Pentagon visit

Donald Trump admits that Elon Musk’s business ties could be a problem after the Pentagon visit.

The US President said that plans for a possible war with China should not be shared with the Tesla CEO because of his business interests.

Supposedly, his connections could pose a conflict of interest when it comes to US military matters, said Trump.

“Elon has businesses in China,” Trump said. “And he would be susceptible, perhaps, to that.”

This is a surprising response from Trump, who usually brushes off questions about Musk’s dual roles in government and business.

The tech billionaire reportedly visited the Pentagon last Friday (21 March) morning to discuss reducing costs, part of his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth backed it up, saying Musk was there ‘to talk about efficiencies, to talk about innovations.’

While leaving the building, the world’s richest man was ready to do ‘anything that could be helpful.’

So far, Musk hasn’t had any role in military operations or defence intelligence, even though the Department of Defense is expected to cut up to 60,000 civilian jobs soon. Not to mention that Musk has been at the forefront of mass layoffs and federal cuts in recent months.

Musk’s involvement in any US dealings with China would raise red flags, as the South African has economic interests in China.

In response to rumours about him being briefed on a possible conflict with China in The New York Times, Musk called it ‘pure propaganda’ and threatened to find those who leaked the information.

“I look forward to the prosecutions of those at the Pentagon who are leaking maliciously false information,” he wrote. “They will be found.”

He reposted Trump’s initial post that read: “The Fake News is at it again, this time the Failing New York Times. […] How disgraceful it is that the discredited media can make up such lies. Anyway, the story is completely untrue!!!”

In another statement, Trump added: “They made that up because it’s a good story to make up. They’re very dishonest people.”

Furthermore, a Pentagon spokesperson pointed reporters to a social media post by Hegseth, who insisted again that the visit had nothing to do with China.

“I called up Pete [Hegseth] and I said: ‘Is there any truth to that?’ Absolutely not, he’s there for Doge, not there for China. And if you ever mentioned China, I think he’d walk out of the room.”

“We welcomed him today to the Pentagon to talk about [the ‘department of government efficiency’], to talk about efficiencies, to talk about innovations. It was a great informal conversation,” Hegseth replied.

The Defence Secretary suggested that the report was intended to ‘undermine whatever relationship the Pentagon has’ with the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

Still, some in the defence industry are uneasy about how much access Musk has to sensitive information, especially with his growing influence in both government and business.

Elon Musk reportedly to be briefed on US ‘secret plan’ for war with China as World War 3 fears intensify

The geopolitical situation is only getting worse

For those already worried about Elon Musk’s closeness to American politics and position at the side of President Donald Trump, reports that he’s going to be briefed on a ‘secret plan’ on how to deal with China in the event of war are only going to heighten those complaints.

Even though Elon Musk‘s designation as a ‘special government employee’ means he has limited powers, he’s been accused of getting his feet under the presidential desk at the White House ever since he stepped up as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

This became even more apparent when Musk waded into the tense situation surrounding the Russia-Ukraine war and branded Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky ‘evil’.

With President Trump and Russia both issuing warnings about a potential World War III, there’s a reason the Doomsday Clock has nudged closer to midnight than ever before.

Now, The New York Times claims there are serious talks underway about supposed global conflicts, with the world’s richest man set to be briefed by the Pentagon about China.

Two US officials said that Musk will be told about the military’s plan in case of war, while another said the proposed meeting will be centered around China. A fourth claimed that Musk will be attending the Pentagon on March 21, but offered no other details.

Hours after the NYT’s article went live, Trump attempted to debunk some of the rumors as he took to Truth Social to state: “China will not even be mentioned or discussed.”

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, one official claimed Musk was being given a briefing because he asked for one, and that while he has security clearance, he isn’t in the military chain of command or thought to be a military advisor to the POTUS.

Sean Parnell, the chief Defense Department spokesman, told the NYT: “The Defense Department is excited to welcome Elon Musk to the Pentagon on Friday. He was invited by Secretary [Pete] Hegseth and is just visiting.” A White House spokesperson didn’t respond to their request for comment.

In a follow-up post on X, Hegseth said reports about Musk being shown top secret plans was ‘fake news’, saying it’s “an informal meeting about innovation, efficiencies & smarter production.”

Although it’s unclear whether the briefing will go ahead, there are obvious concerns about allowing Musk access to some of the USA’s most important military secrets.

We look forward to welcoming @elonmusk to the Pentagon tomorrow. But the fake news delivers again — this is NOT a meeting about “top secret China war plans.” It’s an informal meeting about innovation, efficiencies & smarter production. Gonna be great!

As the outlet notes, this would be “a dramatic expansion of his already extensive role as an adviser to Mr. Trump,” saying that Musk has been tasked with ‘purging’ the government of “people and policies they oppose.”

Due to Musk’s business interests in China through Tesla and its massive Gigafactory in Shanghai, there are also questions about whether he should be privy to anything involving a potential war, let alone one with China.

Still, it seems the POTUS and Hegesth are presenting a united front that claims the media is hyping this up as something more than it should be.

While most of the world’s eyes appear to be on Russia, could the USA be looking at a different corner of the world for the catalyst that could trigger a potential World War III?

Reason why Donald Trump will never be able to drive a Tesla following passionate speech with Elon Musk

It’ll just sit there gathering dust

If you like to put the pedal to the metal, you might want to avoid running for President of the United States, as a bizarre stipulation means you probably won’t be able to make the most of your classic car collection.

We’re used to seeing President Donald Trump being motored around in his armored vehicle known as ‘The Beast’. Stocked with the POTUS’ blood type, door handles that can shock attackers, and bulletproof windows, the $1.5 million vehicle can withstand chemical attacks and is Trump’s regular runaround.

Still, Trump has boasted an impressive car collection over the years, including a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom Saloon, and even an OG Tesla Roadster.

With the recent drama surrounding Tesla, Trump has gotten firmly behind best buddy Elon Musk and bought a brand-new EV.

Turning the White House into his own personal Tesla showroom, the POTUS posed in front of a fleet of Teslas and picked out a shiny red Model S that retails at around $80,000.

The President joked about “giving the Secret Service a heart attack” as he sat in the driver’s seat and said about how the vehicle can reach 95 kilometers per hour in just few seconds.

Saying, “That’s beautiful, that one,” Trump continued: “I’ll give him a check. I do it the old fashioned way …and I don’t want a discount.”

Speaking to the crowd, Trump concluded: “Here’s the bad news. I’m not allowed to drive the car

“I haven’t driven a car in a long time and I like to drive cars. But I’m going to have [the Tesla] in the White House and I’m going to let my staff use it. I’m going to let the people in the country use it and everyone is excited about it. I’m not allowed to use it. Can you believe it?”

It’s not a case of Trump not wanting to drive the Model S – he’s not allowed.

Following the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, the Secret Service enacted a rule that no serving or former President can drive on the roads. Lyndon Johnson was the last President to drive on public roads, and although the rule isn’t law, it’s adhered to by all parties.

Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton all steer clear of getting behind the wheel, while Hillary Clinton says she hasn’t driven since 1996.

The fact that former Presidents aren’t allowed to drive is a cause of contention for them, with Clinton telling Ellen DeGeneres that not being able to drive is the thing he misses the most. Speaking in 2012, he joked: “I mean, if I wanted to give up Secret Service protection for life, I could do it.”

The same year, President Obama was seen driving a Chevy Volt around the White House, with Secret Service agents closing the gates so he wasn’t driving in public. When serving as Vice President, Joe Biden lodged a complaint when speaking at the United Auto Workers conference in 2014, grumbling: “There are a lot of reasons to run for president, but there’s one overwhelming reason not to run for president. I like to get that [Corvette] Z06 from zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds.”

Biden used his appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage to give his ’67 Corvette a rare drive around a Secret Service training area in Maryland.

The Secret Service are tasked with keeping the President and former Presidents safe because they’re trained in “evasive and defensive driving maneuvers,” and while we’re not questioning the driving skills of the POTUS, it looks like he’ll have to admire his new Tesla from afar.

Canadian Premier retaliates against Trump as he cancels $100,000,000 contract with Elon Musk

The US President has been accused of ‘choosing chaos’ over cooperation

Ontario has cancelled its $100 million Starlink contract in response to Trump’s tariffs.

Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, announced that the province has scrapped its contract with Elon Musk’s satellite internet company Starlink.

The move was in retaliation to President Donald Trump’s trade measures against Canada, reported CBC.

Ford also announced that all US-based companies would be banned from future provincial contracts, accusing Trump of ‘choosing chaos’ over cooperation.

“It’s done, it’s gone,” Ford said, referring to the contract. “We won’t award contracts to people who enable and encourage economic attacks on our province and our country.”

The decision follows the US President’s announcement of new ‘catastrophic’ tariffs on Canadian exports, including 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports and 10 percent tariffs on Canadian energy.

The 60-year-old justified the move by claiming Canada, Mexico and China should be held ‘accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the US.’ However, the tariffs have been delayed for a second time due to uncertainty and blowback from financial markets.

In a comment that further strained relations, Trump suggested that the only way for Canada to avoid tariffs was to become America’s 51st state.

Ford didn’t take kindly to the remark. In response, he threatened to cut off power to 1.5 million US customers and placed a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to New York, Michigan and Minnesota.

Ford said: “This is not the outcome anyone wanted. “We could have poured our efforts into making Canada and the US the two richest, most successful, safest, most secure two countries on the planet. Unfortunately, one man — President Trump — has chosen chaos instead.”

SpaceX‘s subsidiary Starlink signed a contract with Ontario in November 2023 to provide high-speed internet to 15,000 rural and remote homes by summer 2025.

SpaceX is one of Musk’s many tech ventures, alongside his responsibilities of serving as a close ally of Trump and heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The decision to pull the plug has raised concerns for remote communities that struggle with internet access.

Sol Mamakwa, the Ontario NDP MPP for Kiiwetinoong, said the cancellation could leave many northern communities with even fewer options for connectivity.

“My initial post of it was essentially to the people that messaged me from the north in my riding on how it’s going to impact them,” Mamakwa said, adding that those who have already subscribed to Starlink will not be affected.

Elsewhere, Ontario’s liquor wholesaler and retailer has confirmed it will no longer buy or sell US alcohol. If the trade war continues, the province fears it could lead to a disaster in many Ontario industries, like auto manufacturing and steel production.

“We also need to be ready to dig in for a long fight,” Ford pointed out. “We need to be ready to escalate using every tool in our tool kit.”
